Hot Summer Cash - Weekly Winner # 6

Hot Summer Cash - Weekly Winner # 6

    Lightning does strike twice!!!

David Lundy, our first $5,000 winner from Week # 3, came back to Vegas to collect his $5,000, hung around and played some more poker. Had more than 15 hours last week and was here for the drawing last Friday but did not win.

He kept on playing, hit two Quads, collecting 20 tickets before he had to leave early Saturday morning. Before he left he made the comment that he figured out how to win... he just had to leave.

Well it worked because to the dismay of all the players present David Lundy wins again!

Because he could not get 15 hours of play in before he had to leave he will only win $2,500 this time, but I am sure he'll be back soon to collect it.

Congratulations again David Lunday from Dallas Texas!

    RICHARDSON, TX

is the winner for our 3rd Drawing and
    is our FIRST $5,000 WINNER!

David has over 30 hours play in the week before the drawing, including an 18-hour monster session the day before he left.

I was able to talk to him on the phone to let him know he had won and he said, "Thanks again Chris. Your phone call was a Terrific Ending to a very long day of being stuck in two different airports and 11 hours to get back home to Dallas. "

He'll be making a return trip to Vegas to collect the $5,000 and perhaps you'll see across the tables again!

    Congratulations David!

    Follow Up:
Dave came back this week to collect his $5,000 and hung around a few extra days hoping to hit lighting twice.

Hot Summer Cash - Weekly Winner # 2
is Alaina L from Hershey, PA
Seen here sporting her $2,500 prize

Alaina and her husband decided to check out the local burger joint
instead of being in the poker room at the time of the drawing.
Rumor has it that he just about fainted when they came in Saturday
morning to get into a game and asked who won last night.

    Congratulations Alaina!

He was very surprised and happy as it added to the joy of the reason why he was in town, which was for his son's wedding that took place Saturday afternoon.

Clubs Royal Flush Hit for $5,000

    Lighting does strike twice!

Actually it struck more than twice... details after the picture.

Feliciano is a regular around the TI Poker Room and in the early hours of Saturday, June 14, 2008 those hours spent in the room paid off in the way of the Clubs Royal Flush, which had not been hit since January of this year, and it paid off in the amount of $5,000!
    Congratulations Feliciano!

This is on table #2, seat # 5, which interestingly enough adds up to lucky number 7!

Before Feliciano took that seat there was a lady, Robyn, that hit a Quads jackpot for $100, then about one hour later hit another Quads jackpot for $100, then a short time later she called it a night.

Feliciano sits down and shortly after that hits the Clubs Royal Flush for $5,000 and then on the VERY NEXT HAND hits a Quads jackpot for another $100 and then also vacates the seat in a little bit.

The seat is still hot and another player had been in it for only a short amount of time when he too hit Quads for $100.

In a span of about 4.5 hours Table 2, Seat 5, had four Quads and a Royal Flush!

Hearts Royal Flush Hit for $3,181

It was about 2:20am when Justin looked at his hole cards to see the Ace of Hearts and Jack of Hearts.
The flop contained two more of the cards needed for the Hearts Royal Flush, they were the Queen and Ten of Hearts.
Then, as I am sure his heart was pounding, the river produced the King of Hearts and a windfall of $3,181!
This was no Friday the 13th for Justin!
Congratulations on the hand and jackpot!

    Royal Hold'em & No River Hold'em starting July 1st

    Royal Hold'em
Royal Hold'em is played with a 20-card deck using only the Aces through Tens, 2-6 players, and is otherwise a standard Texas Hold'em game with each player being dealt 2 cards with 5 community cards on the board.

The game is fun, fast-paced, and you'll never see two bad cards!

    No River Hold'em
Do you like a game that is more strategic and are you tired of getting beaten on the river? Then No River Hold'em is for you! The game is played similar to Texas Hold'em, using a full 52-card deck but each player is dealt 3 cards, then there is the standard 3-card flop and a turn and then there is No River!

The game offers a fast paced, exciting, and highly strategic gaming experience.

The games will be offered in Limit (starting at $3 & $6) and No Limit (starting at $1 & $3 Blinds) versions and on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 a.m. we will have a Royal Hold'em tournament (Limit format).

    The Revolution Has Begun!

    Poker Room Hours

There has been some incorrect information floating around the various poker room news sites, blogs, discussion groups, etc.

To answer your questions about the room's closing time:

The TI Poker Room stays open until there are no games, and this is where the misinformation has come in. During the week we will typically go down to no games between 5am and 7am. During the weekends we typically do not lose a game and thus are open 24 hours.

This is 100% dependant upon you - we have staff in place to continue the games 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year!

Please feel free to call us at any time at 702.894.7291 if you have any questions.

    TI's First Bad Beat Jackpot

I was in my office, getting ready to leave for the day, when I heard "JACKPOT!" slight pause, "JACKPOT!", another slight pause, then with even more enthusiasm, "BAD BEAT JACKPOT!"

The commotion is coming from table # 3, in the front of the room - the table with the big "window" rail. It is a No Limit game.

It turns out a player had just sat down with his $300 buy-in and on his first hand he gets dealt a pair of sixes.

There is considerable preflop action (I am not privy to all the information but there was four-way action preflop with about $70 each in the pot).

    The flop comes down:
    3 of Diamonds - 4 of Clubs - 6 of Spades

The new player has flopped three sixes but unknown to him the player to his right has flopped a straight and holds the 5 and 7 of Diamonds.

The turn is a the 4 of Diamonds! The new player now has a Full House, Sixes full of Fours! He moves all in and gets called by the player to his right who flopped a straight and has turned a Straight Flush draw!

Sure enough the river is the 6 of Diamonds! The new player is excited he has Quads, shows them and the dealer yells "Jackpot!".

The player to his right immediately shows his hand and is even more excited as he shows the 7-High Straight Flush and the dealer yells "JACKPOT!" and realizes there is now a qualifying bad beat and yells "BAD BEAT JACKPOT!"

The new player received $500 for having a qualifying losing hand AND $100 for having Quads - so he got all in for $300 on his first hand, lost and still came out of the hand with $600!

The player to his right took down a monster pot of $800+, $250 for having the winning hand in a Bad Beat jackpot, and $250 for his Straight Flush!

There were six other players at the table and they each received $100 just for being there!

One new player to the game had just sat down and missed that hand, but it's a good thing for everyone else or that hand would not have gone down the way it did!

    Congratulations to everyone!

    Cash Jackpots

    Great news for cash jackpots!

Cash jackpots being paid from a promotional pool that is funded by players is now considered a wagering pool by the IRS.

What does this mean for you?

When you hit a cash jackpot at the TI that is $600 or more you will receive a W2-G instead of a 1099-M as it is now considered gambling winnings. This means you have the ability to counter your jackpot wins with gambling losses!

When you receive 1099-M's it is treated as income and you are not able to deduct gambling losses.

So come on down to the TI and hit those Quads, Straight Flushes, and Royal Flushes and don't forget that from 4am to 11am in N/L games ($1/$3 and up) and Limit games ($4 & $8 and up) the Quads are worth $200 each and Straight Flushes are worth $500 each!!!

    New Carpet

We have been open just under two years (April 12th will be our 2nd anniversary) but today, March 5th, they are installing new carpet!

The original carpet was getting torn up real quick around the seams and it showed stains real bad. Hopefully the new carpet will hold up a little better! It will be interesting to see how it looks in the room; it is so hard to pick carpet based upon a 2"x2" blotch.

UPDATE - The new carpet looks very nice! Everyone has said nothing but good things about it.
